The role focuses on negotiating with dedicated providers according to specific policies, aiming to secure optimal contractual conditions while maintaining internal customer satisfaction. It involves interpreting internal and external business challenges and recommending best practices to improve products, processes, or services, leveraging industry trends for informed decision‑making.
Key responsibilities include defining supplier strategy, managing and optimizing supplier panels, and leading negotiations that allocate needs to appropriate suppliers. The incumbent will manage claims, conduct commercial sourcing activities such as data analysis and negotiation support, and may perform purchasing functions.
The position leads a commodity spend exceeding $500 M, applying a SQDC mindset to drive volume ramp‑up. As a second‑line manager, the individual oversees medium‑to‑large teams, attracts and retains talent, and provides expertise and thought leadership within the function, influencing policy and delivering solutions across the organization.
Required qualifications are comparable to a Master’s degree in sourcing and commodity management, or equivalent experience, with U.S. roles requiring a Master’s degree or at least six years of relevant experience. Desired characteristics include strong oral and written communication, interpersonal and leadership abilities, proven problem‑analysis, program leadership, and established project‑management skills.
