The Maintenance Technician B works under the supervision of a Lead Technician, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager to repair and maintain diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks, including chassis components, refuse bodies, control systems, hydraulics, electrical, air brakes, engines, HVAC, suspension, drivetrain, and steering. The role also involves basic tire work such as replacements, rotations, and tread depth checks. Key responsibilities include performing preventative and corrective maintenance on a wide range of vehicle systems both on‑site and on the road, providing safe road service to return equipment to operation, and using electronic diagnostic tools to pinpoint malfunctions. The technician must complete applicable company training programs and may also perform line maintenance welding and fabrication. Additional duties are assigned as needed.
Candidates should understand work order labor time standards and have prior experience with light, medium‑duty, or heavy‑duty trucks, aircraft, or ships. ASE certifications (T1‑T8) and a Commercial Driver’s License are advantageous but not required; a valid driver’s license is mandatory. A minimum of one year of technician experience or recent graduation from an accredited automotive college or technical school within three months is required.
The position offers an hourly pay range of $22.40 to $33.60 with eligibility for performance bonuses.
