HVAC Equipment Commissioning Manager

Description

The Equipment Commissioning Manager (EqCM) supports the Equipment North America (EqNA) organization on startup, warranty, and service coordination. The role reports initially to the Regional Service Manager and later to the Branch Service Manager, with accountability to the HVAC Equipment Operations Manager.

The EqCM serves as the single point of contact for all service scope within equipment contracts, working directly with the customer and coordinating labor requirements with the Customer Resource Coordinator.

• Support EqNA sales during project estimates by determining if service can be performed as a service request (S/R) or requires a Service Mechanical project.
• Provide custom quotes for service items not covered by the PCAT policy.
• Verify branch technicians are trained for contracted equipment and coordinate training with the Truck Based Service Manager.
• Attend RTO meetings for complex or PSA‑sold projects and highlight service or warranty concerns.
• Validate PSA details with the SAE/Agent Project Owner and supply required documentation.
• Conduct weekly service turnover meetings with SAEs and the Branch Operations Manager to track service scopes and update the EqNA Operations Team.
• Introduce Connected Service capabilities to customers.
• Coordinate scheduled work and schedule changes directly with the EqNA customer.
• Ensure asset records are created in NxGen and assigned to the correct site for future service requests or quotes.
• Manage FOB Destination deliveries with technicians and communicate status to the SAE and customer.
• Verify warranty information in Warranty Navigator and resolve discrepancies with the SAE and Warranty Admin team.
• Monitor Long‑Term Storage requirements and coordinate with the SAE and customer.
• Promote use of Pronto Forms for pre‑startup checklists and technician inspections.
• Ensure startup completion, resolve issues, and provide startup documentation to the customer.
• Record startup dates in NxGen and register serviced equipment in Warranty Navigator, providing warranty certification to the customer.
• Ensure all service requests are invoiced promptly after scope completion.
• Act as the first point of contact for warranty requests, dispatching technicians and filing claims with the Warranty Service Coordinator.
• Escalate and resolve issues that impede warranty work, including parts and resource availability, and collaborate with technical support to accelerate cash collections.
• Facilitate technical support for EqNA customers as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of industry experience or a technical engineering/construction degree.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Writer, and basic Windows operating environment.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative abilities.
• Effective conflict‑resolution skills.
• Ability to represent Johnson Controls positively and communicate at varying technical levels.
• Demonstrated capability to manage multiple diverse projects simultaneously with professionalism and persistence.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction (preferred).
• Knowledge of HVAC equipment (preferred).
• Proficiency with the MS Office Suite (preferred).
