Generate Upcycle is a global leader in circular waste management, and the largest owner and operator of food waste-based organics recycling facilities in North America. By partnering with municipalities, businesses, and farms, we reduce the cost and carbon footprint of organic waste by producing renewable electricity, renewable natural gas, fertilizers, and soil amendments that reduce the need for fossil fuel-based chemical fertilizers.
The Waste Study Sorter will support a week‑long waste audit by sorting bagged waste into designated containers, a task comparable to commercial janitorial work. The role involves opening waste bags, identifying items quickly, and placing them in the appropriate bins.
The position requires frequent hand and finger use, standing, walking, climbing, and the ability to lift up to 40 lb while working outdoors for 2‑4 hours per shift. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, and the work environment is quiet to moderate.
The temporary position is based in Calabasas, CA, scheduled for January 12‑18, 2026. Compensation is $25 per hour with an additional $25 daily meal allowance.
