Construction Accounting Manager

Description

• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Collaborate with external CPAs and auditors.
• Implement and maintain effective accounting systems and processes to streamline operations.
• Oversee daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, general ledger, and payroll.
• Prepare and present monthly financial reports to management.
• Review and reconcile financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and GAAP.
• Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team, ensuring high performance and professional growth.
• Monitor cash flow, budgets, job costs, and WIP schedules for construction projects.
• Support project managers with financial reporting and cost analysis related to active construction projects.

Requirements

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager with construction industry experience to lead our accounting team in a growing construction company. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction accounting practices, including job costing, WIP reporting, and project-based financial tracking, along with solid AP/AR knowledge, proven people-management experience, and proficiency with accounting systems. This role is key to ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and supporting strategic business decisions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of construction accounting, including job costing, WIP, change orders, and project cost tracking.
• Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting principles.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Prior experience in the construction industry is required.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, FOUNDATION, or similar).
• Minimum of 2+ years of accounting experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or management role.
