The Estimator role is responsible for preparing detailed, competitive cost estimates for mechanical systems in commercial and industrial construction projects. This position supports bid quotations and packages, collaborating closely with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure accurate pricing and scope alignment.
Key responsibilities include collecting historical cost data, consulting with stakeholders to formulate estimates, analyzing blueprints, preparing time, cost, material, and labor calculations, and reviewing contract and bid documents. The Estimator also attends walk‑throughs, prepares scope letters and proposals, maintains relationships with customers and vendors, and assists project managers with takeoffs and pricing changes.
Candidates should have at least three years of construction industry experience and a high school diploma or GED. Required skills include proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with Autobid Mechanical or Bluebeam, strong integrity, self‑motivation, high attention to detail, and excellent organizational, communication, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities. Effective English communication and the ability to build positive relationships across departments and with external partners are essential.
The role demands regular sitting, walking, climbing, and handling tools, as well as travel to field locations for accurate takeoffs.
