The Senior Systems Engineer will design, install, administer, support, and maintain information technology systems. This role provides specifications, analyzes problems, recommends solutions, and defines requirements for new products and services. The engineer serves as an expert in areas such as security, network, infrastructure, and applications/database, aligning all activities with JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values.

- Research and recommend implementation of new technologies.
- Serve as subject matter expert for various IT systems and applications.
- Train end users and peers on applications, services, devices, or concepts.
- Evaluate system applicability to the company environment.
- Arrange system implementations, covering design, project management, vendor management, testing, documentation, launch, and handoff.
- Manage system lifecycle, including upgrades and decommissioning.
- Troubleshoot issues and act as escalation point for the IT department.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal personnel to facilitate purchases.
- Evaluate and solve complex system issues.
- Recommend and help implement tactical technology solutions for project success.
- Provide administration and support across multiple technical environments.
- Maintain hardware and build standards for fault tolerance, high availability, performance, and disaster recovery.
- Support and maintain large databases containing critical business data.
- Optimize performance, stability, and uptime of existing database systems.
- Write and maintain scripts for monitoring, capacity planning, backups, and recovery.
- Collaborate with engineering and IT teams to define requirements and implement new database systems.
- Act as escalation contact and subject matter expert for systems and solutions.
- Motivate and mentor team members on technical and methodological practices.
- Lead technical resources for design and implementation projects.
- Develop operating procedures for systems and solutions.
- Train and engage operations and support personnel on production solutions.
- Advise on emerging technology trends relevant to business growth.
- Engineer solutions that enable and protect the business.
