In this role you will contribute to concept studies, design packages and planning applications that lead to construction issues across a variety of development projects. You will be active on several varied sites at any time and receive support from the Edinburgh team to build technical capability. Client engagement, stakeholder management and liaison with internal and external design teams are core parts of the job. All tasks must be delivered to budget, programme, technical standards and legal requirements.
- Develop concept studies, design packages and planning submissions for diverse development projects.
- Manage client, stakeholder and design team relationships to ensure project delivery on budget and schedule.
- Produce infrastructure masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, calculations and construction drawings.
- Use industry software such as Info Drainage, Micro Drainage, AutoCAD, Civil 3D and PDS.
- Secure technical approvals and statutory agreements through liaison with authorities and regulators.

We are looking for candidates with strong knowledge of highway design, drainage strategies, flood risk assessment, utility design and the wider development industry. An understanding of hydraulics, hydrology, geotechnics and building structures is desirable, as is familiarity with construction design stages. You should be able to produce infrastructure masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, design calculations and construction drawings using relevant design codes. Proficiency in software such as Info Drainage, Micro Drainage, AutoCAD, Civil 3D or PDS, and experience liaising with clients, design teams and statutory authorities are essential.
- Apply knowledge of highway, drainage, flood risk, utility design and sustainable development principles.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication and awareness of climate‑change and sustainability guidance.
- Hold postgraduate qualifications, work towards chartership and understand financial and contractual aspects of projects.
