Construction Scheduler

Description

The Scheduler/Dispatcher will oversee daily dispatch of up to nine erosion control crews and five street‑sweeping crews, ensuring efficient scheduling, equipment readiness, and communication with project managers and clients. The role requires reliability, attention to detail, a positive attitude, and a long‑term commitment to the company's growth. Bilingual (Spanish) skills are important, and the work environment is busy yet fun.

• Take scheduling calls from clients and project managers throughout the workday.
• Add call‑ins to the master schedule and request additional details when needed.
• Adjust the schedule multiple times daily for job deletions or scope changes.
• Create a daily dispatch list with truck/trailer numbers, crews, and job priorities.
• Confirm required equipment and materials are available for each job.
• Include scope, details, maps, and material tags with job assignments.
• Distribute the schedule to crews and the office using the new format.
• Assign the same crew to multi‑day or specialized jobs whenever possible.
• Set staggered start times to minimize daily text traffic.
• Order or call‑off rental equipment as required.
• Review daily job tags and interview crews for missing details; submit completed tags daily.
• Keep overtime under one hour per crew member per day.
• Report unfinished jobs to the project manager and roll them over to the next day.
• Track erosion BMP inventory multiple times per week.
• Order erosion control materials to maintain seasonal minimums.
• Order dewatering materials as needed.
• Track inventory of small tools such as picks, shovels, and hammers.
• Track readiness of trenchers, pumps, hoses, and related equipment.
• Monitor vehicle, vactor, street sweeper, and trailer readiness.
• Manage quick and efficient changes to the daily schedule and routine.
• Participate in meetings as required.
• Provide ongoing customer service support.
• Maintain daily attendance and post‑condition logs.
• Keep safety certifications current (e.g., First Aid, CPR).
• Maintain up‑to‑date safety manuals, IIPP, SDS sheets, and fleet safety programs.
• Fulfill IIPP and SDS requests from clients.
• Monitor and enforce daily PPE use in the yard, warehouse, and job sites.
• Maintain a good driving record.

Requirements

• GED or High School Diploma required.
• OSHA HAZWOPER certification preferred.
• 1–2 years construction experience with stormwater infrastructure, concrete, piping, or detention basins.
• Safeland Training preferred but not required.
• Ability to perform manual labor.
• Knowledge of sediment and erosion control practices.
• General carpentry and plumbing experience helpful.
• Comfortable operating pickups and equipment trailers.
• Understand and follow OSHA‑based safe work practices.
