The Senior Construction Modeler is responsible for guiding a team of construction modelers and checkers to complete a designated area of work, in consultation with a Project Coordinator or Project Manager. The Senior Construction Modeler is ultimately accountable for owning and controlling a model.
- Responsible for using CAD software (as specified by DBM Vircon and client requirements) to prepare models, detail drawings, and assembly drawings including all views and dimensions necessary.
- Identify and issue Technical Queries, Requests for Information (RFI), and Connection Design Questions to clients through proper channels.
- Conduct and control clash and interface checking, utilizing appropriate software.
- Complete necessary checklists per DBM Vircon procedures (e.g., close-outs, handover models).
- Maintain and actively improve technical and professional abilities relevant to your responsibilities.
- Accountable for ensuring that all detailing completed by their team is completed in line with DBM Vircon policies and processes.
- Initiate and oversee Change Orders (CORs) for all revised drawings, documentation, and RFI responses, in accordance with established procedures.
- Work cohesively with all relevant departments to guarantee models and drawings convey accurate, error-free information.
- Manage project and job setup, including establishing general notes.
- Interpret and utilize client-supplied information, including models, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work provided by Project Coordinators and/or Project Managers.
- Perform back drafting, incorporating approved changes into drawings and documents after checking.
- Collaborate closely with Project Coordinators and/or Project Managers throughout projects to ensure deliveries meet DBM Vircon and client requirements.
- Continuously manage project schedules and delivery dates.
- Produce models and drawings in direct consultation with engineers when project requirements necessitate (typically managed by Project Coordinators or Project Managers).

Work Experience
- Relevant CAD software used by the Company and/or office where the project manager is based e.g. Tekla, AutoCad, ProSteel, StruCAD, Revit, AutoPLANT, Navisworks.
- Microsoft Office software (including Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the detailing and construction modeling industry, including experience as a modeler.
- Experience working collaboratively with project teams to ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Experience with steel detailing and a strong understanding of construction drawings, models, and related documentation.
- Ability to learn new software and tools relevant to the role quickly.
- Extensive industry experience combined with training certification in the field of steel fabrication, steel detailing or construction.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or the completion of a steel detailing course, or equivalent education/training in a relevant technical field.
- A combination of work experience and relevant education will be considered.
- Expert proficiency in Tekla Structures with comprehensive experience in relevant CAD support software and ability to train others.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $70,000 to $100,000 CAD per annum. The final base salary will be determined based on factors such as the applicant's education, skills, competencies, and unique qualifications.
