In the technology realm, the technician assists residents and staff with basic needs such as Wi‑Fi, tablets, phones, printers, and TVs, sets up and maintains computers and network equipment, troubleshoots connectivity issues, supports routine system updates, and helps with electronic health record systems and other community software. They also manage IT inventory and coordinate vendor repairs or upgrades.
On the facilities side, the role involves routine maintenance and repairs of building systems, equipment, and resident rooms, responding promptly to work orders with a focus on safety and resident comfort, conducting regular inspections of electrical, plumbing, and life‑safety systems, and assisting with room turnovers, preventative maintenance, and seasonal tasks. Coordination with outside contractors for specialized repairs or major projects and maintaining accurate logs of activities are also required.

The IT/Maintenance Technician plays a dual role, providing day‑to‑day tech support for staff and residents while also performing essential building maintenance. This position is ideal for problem‑solvers who enjoy working with people in a warm, service‑oriented environment.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, with technical or vocational training preferred, and at least two years of experience in IT support, building maintenance, or a related field. Candidates must demonstrate a strong customer‑service mindset, especially when assisting older adults, possess working knowledge of Windows, basic networking, and common devices, and be able to lift, carry, climb, and perform physical maintenance tasks. Strong communication skills and a calm, patient demeanor are essential.
Preferred skills encompass experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or property management, and certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or maintenance‑related credentials. Familiarity with nurse call systems, access control, building automation, and a basic understanding of safety regulations and compliance requirements in senior living are advantageous.
