You will join a small team and play a pivotal role within that team and the wider UK business. Your role will see you support our project staff and our clients with M&E related cost management services. This is a national service, which may see you collaborating with our staff and clients across the whole of the UK business. Hence, giving you great variety within your role.
Your key relationships will see you report into the Technical Director of the M&E sector and frequently engage with senior leaders within the UK business, to provide support and advice on their projects.
- Contributing to proposals, benchmarking, sector initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.
- Taking ownership of cost planning, estimating, procurement, and contract administration to ensure commercial quality.
- Managing client expectations to support satisfaction and build strong, trusted relationships.
- Leading valuations, variations, payment recommendations, and monthly financial reporting.
- Maintaining cost data, contract records, and reports using TSA Riley systems and templates.
- Collaborating with project teams to support performance, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive team culture.
- Managing commercial compliance and contributing to risk management practices in line with TSA Riley standards.
- Tracking contractual obligations, project changes, and financial risks, escalating when required.
- Maintaining clear, responsive communication with clients and delivery partners.
- Resolving contractual queries, addressing challenges, and mitigating potential commercial disputes.
- Monitoring commercial performance, identifying risks or opportunities, and supporting corrective actions.

TSA Riley are looking to strengthen our Mechanical & Electrical team by hiring a Senior Quantity Surveyor with an excellent technical knowledge of common M&E systems within the built environment.
In addition to you cost management responsibilities, we are also looking for someone with strong people management skills who can helps us to mentor and develop our talented, junior members within this team.
- Proven ability to carry out the full spectrum of pre and post contract duties, including cost planning, estimating, procurement, and contract administration.
- Strong people management skills with the ability to work closely with junior staff members, taking on tasks such as effectively delegating work, quality assurance checking of other staff members work and generally supporting their development.
- Proficiency with digital tools to support financial tracking, documentation, and reporting.
- Excellent technical knowledge relating to mechanical and electrical systems on building projects.
- A tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or a similarly related discipline. Ideally this will be accredited by the RICS.
- Curiosity and adaptability to work across a variety of sectors, client accounts and different delivery contexts.
- Holding a professional accreditation with a relevant body such as the RICS.
- Known reputation for high-quality work, and a collaborative, effective working style.
- Proven experience at delivering quantity surveying or commercial services in a consulting or client-side environment.
- Experience of working in agile environments and contributing to cross-functional teams.
- Brings critical thinking and problem-solving skills to support effective commercial delivery.
- Proven experience of working in a heavily biased/specialist mechanical and electrical cost management role in the construction industry.
