Our client is continuing to expand and modernize its field operations through the use of advanced unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and robotics technologies. Allied Resources Technical Consultants is seeking an experienced Senior Drone / Robotics Operator to support utility inspection, emergency response, and infrastructure assessment activities across a large, regulated service territory.
This position is a long-term contract role with strong potential for extension and requires consistent travel to project sites.
This role supports highly visible, mission-critical initiatives and requires a professional who can operate autonomously in complex, regulated airspace while coordinating with internal engineering teams, emergency operations, and external regulatory authorities. The Senior Drone Operator will be responsible for executing advanced drone missions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and translating aerial data into actionable insights for utility stakeholders.
This position is NOT eligible for visa sponsorship or C2C.
- Demonstrated experience operating drones in controlled or restricted airspace, including familiarity with DC-area flight restrictions
- Ability to mobilize quickly and adapt to dynamic, high-pressure operational environments
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively within the service territory
- Proficiency with mission planning and flight management software
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret aerial data and communicate findings clearly
- Strong working knowledge of FAA regulations, waiver processes, and airspace authorization procedures
- FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (required)
- Travel Requirements: Must travel throughout the regional utility service area (South Jersey to Washington, DC)
- Familiarity with advanced payloads, including thermal imaging, zoom optics, and LiDAR
- Professional communication skills and experience working with technical, regulatory, and field-based teams
- Faster and safer inspection of critical infrastructure
- Experience operating enterprise drone platforms (e.g., DJI Matrice or equivalent)
- Improved situational awareness during emergency response events
