Senior Project Architect

Description

The Senior Project Architect role leads mid‑size to large, complex projects from concept through construction, often managing multiple assignments simultaneously. With at least 12 years of experience and a professional license, you will guide design and technical development, coordinate consultants, navigate regulatory processes, and mentor project teams in a dynamic, collaborative setting.

• Lead architectural and technical development across all project phases.
• Develop and coordinate buildable solutions that meet goals, budgets, schedules, and client expectations.
• Coordinate internal teams and external consultants to integrate building systems and disciplines.
• Guide projects through plan check, permitting, zoning, and regulatory approvals.
• Oversee construction administration, including RFIs, submittal reviews, site visits, and design intent quality.
• Collaborate on budgeting, scheduling, resource management, specifications, and overall project delivery.
• Uphold QA/QC standards for drawings, specifications, and deliverables, ensuring code and firm compliance.
• Build and sustain strong client relationships alongside project managers and design leaders.
• Submit a current portfolio and/or work samples in PDF format.

• Registered/Licensed Architect required; California license strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture from an accredited university.
• 12+ years of professional experience with mixed‑use or complex project typologies.
• Deep expertise in architectural detailing, building systems, construction methods, codes, and regulatory processes.
• Experience with California Building Code, seismic design, Title 24 energy compliance, and local permitting (San Diego/Los Angeles).
• Knowledge of sustainable design principles and certifications such as LEED and WELL.
• Experience with innovative low‑carbon materials (mass timber, modular) and digital fabrication.
• Proven ability to develop and write architectural specifications and custom details.
• Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary teams and management of multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Extensive construction administration and mentoring experience within the California process.
• Proficiency in Revit and related technical production tools (preferred).
