The Role

Overview

Oversee environmental permits planning, submissions, tracking, and compliance for high‑speed rail.

Tasks

-Coordinate internal working groups to align PLA requirements and expectations. -Track PLA progress and deliverables. -Work closely with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to integrate environmental best practices into project execution plans. -Liaise with approving authorities to ensure timely approvals and respond to questions. -Collaborate with the Permits, Licenses, and Approvals (PLA) team and other stakeholders to develop permitting and approval strategies. -Maintain detailed environmental reports, permit status updates, and compliance tracking for executive management and stakeholders. -Manage compliance with approval conditions. -Lead the planning, submission, and tracking of permits required for construction and operation, including land use approvals, environmental permits, and sustainability certifications. -Coordinate PLA contributions to the overall project schedule.

What You Bring

-Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, sustainability, or other related fields. -Experience in environmental program management. -Minimum 10 years of experience in permitting, environmental regulation, and compliance monitoring. -Strong understanding of environmental issues, environmental impact assessments, permitting laws, and sustainability frameworks. -Excellent knowledge of the environmental legislative and regulatory framework. -Bilingualism (French and English), spoken and written. -Demonstrated experience in auditing, document management, and relations with regulatory agencies. -Knowledge of linear projects or infrastructure (an asset). -Significant experience and proven ability to navigate complex regulatory processes (federal and/or provincial), interact with government agencies, and manage permit deadlines. -Master's degree in management or environmental studies (an asset).
