The Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) Line of Service (LOS) Manager is responsible for coordinating PHA, engineers and other field and office support resources on multiple projects at any given time. The PHA LOS Manager will report to site managers or project managers who will establish clear expectations in terms of work scope, work quality and work efficiency on the projects for which they are responsible. The PHA LOS Manager may be expected to work directly with clients on technical aspects of projects and therefore must be able to communicate technical requirements, concepts and deliverables clearly and concisely.

Emphasis is placed on quality of the work product and the efficiency of work execution. The PHA LOS Manager is accountable for the quality of work provided by PHA resources; therefore the PHA LOS Manager is responsible for training and ensuring quality and efficiency. Candidate will help establish efficient and effective means of tracking and reporting metrics related to PHA project execution. The PHA LOS Manager is accountable for the professional development of PHA-related resources throughout the company.

  • Assist with process safety and risk management consulting
  • Execute and manage multiple PHA projects simultaneously
  • Represent and promote Provenance in industry and client events
  • Ensure procedures exist, and are kept current and accurate for all work execution activities
  • Read and interpret Process & Mechanical Drawings, Cause & Effect Charts, SAFE Charts, Instrument Diagrams, etc.
  • Research new and innovative approaches as needed to remain relevant and distinct
  • Ensure the PHA scenarios, consequences, safeguards, and recommendations are complete and correctly identified and captured in the PHA software
  • Select the PHA methodology based on the complexity of the process and hazards involved
  • Produce technical reports
  • Define agendas, objectives and strategies for departmental development
  • Understand and comply with all Provenance and client safety procedures that govern the work being performed
  • Staff, manage and execute projects related to PHAs
  • Identify and assess training needs
  • Implement best practices, materials and aids to ensure superior customer experience and continued relationship management
  • Prepare, facilitate, scribe and write reports for the PHA (HAZOP, What-if, FMEA, HAZID)

  • The ability to create and implement learning and development programs

  • Excellent skills in facilitating group meetings
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM)
  • Process, mechanical or chemical design experience or extensive operating experience in oil & gas facilities
  • The ability to engage, approach and build relationships at all levels of an organization
  • Be client-facing, having a proven record of building and maintaining positive and professional client relationships
  • Experience with PHA software (PHA Pro)
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation ability
  • Superior interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Extensive experience participating on PHA teams
  • Facilitated at least ten (10) PHAs with three (3) of them including a LOPA evaluation, preferred
  • Knowledge of oil and gas industry standards and recommended practices (PSM, API, NFPA, ASME, etc.) is highly preferred
  • Excellent organization and project management skills
  • An Engineering Degree (chemical or mechanical)
  • Knowledge of safety systems (Fire & Gas, Deluge, ESD)
  • The ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written means, and able to adapt communication to best reach the intended audience within or outside the organization
  • One of more years facilitating PHAs and LOPA
  • The ability to read process and mechanical drawings (PFD, MFD, P&ID)
