This role provides field and functional support across multiple projects, working alongside Project Managers, Project Engineers and Health & Safety Advisors to ensure environmental compliance and best-practice implementation of CMC’s Environmental Management System.
You will be contributing to the preparation of Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), erosion and sediment control plans, and other statutory documentation while assisting the Environmental Manager with data analysis, reporting, and continual improvement initiatives.
By promoting proactive environmental management, you will help safeguard CMC’s reputation, ensure legislative compliance, and embed a culture of environmental responsibility across all project teams.
The role supports both operational delivery and pre-contracts planning by providing technical input to environmental documentation, tenders, and project plans.

Initially you will be based on a project in Townsville, but we need you to be willing and able to work away from home on other projects in regional Queensland and northern NSW.
Therefore, you will need to be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident, or have a current valid visa allowing you the right to work in Australia to apply for this position.

- Bachelor degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent discipline;
- Proven ability to support multiple projects, balance competing priorities, and maintain compliance standards;
- Highly organised, self-motivated, and capable of working autonomously across multiple sites;
- Current Construction White Card;
- Sound knowledge of environmental management systems and auditing processes (ISO 14001);
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and environmental data management systems;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and data analysis;
- Strong understanding of QLD and NSW environmental legislation, regulatory frameworks, and approval processes;
- Ability to identify practical environmental solutions and influence positive behaviours;
- ICAM (Basic) or equivalent incident-investigation or root cause analysis training (desirable);
- Knowledge of industry-specific safety standards and regulations in Queensland and New South Wales including TMR and TfNSW;
- Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in an on-site environmental advisory or coordination role within civil construction, infrastructure, heavy industry or mining;
- Certified Practicing Erosion and Sediment Control certification (highly regarded) or associated training modules (desirable).
- Demonstrated experience preparing and implementing EMPs, risk registers, and environmental procedures;
- Capability to adapt to and introduce new technologies and methodologies in environmental management.
- Experience liaising with regulatory bodies and clients on environmental issues and performance reporting.
