  • Represent SPEN interests when liaising with external parties, such as network customers, suppliers and industry bodies (e.g. OFGEM, ENA, etc)
  • Lead communication with wider business stakeholders on the introduction of new plant and new processes.
  • Actively engage with T&D substations & equipment suppliers through engineering specification development, tendering processes and the approval of system assets.
  • Maintain an awareness of advances in technology, equipment and best practice and steer sustainable, innovative solutions across the Iberdrola Group.
  • Perform all duties with a strong emphasis on health, safety, quality and environmental matters.
  • Lead the development of engineering strategies, including equipment specifications, substations assessment and approvals and contract engineering with the full engagement and consultation of relevant stakeholders.
  • Have the opportunity to participate in Iberdrola global working groups and best practice forums.

  • Tendering Experience / Technical Evaluation of transmission substations electrical equipment / Technical lead for live Equipment contracts
  • Familiarity with Asset management techniques, practices & policy.
  • Detailed knowledge of UK and International Technical Standards for electrical plant used in transmission applications (GIS, AIS Plant, FACTs Technologies, HVDC substations)
  • Computer literacy – e.g., Microsoft Office suite, SAP.
  • Substation equipment approval experience
  • Operational Experience – Installation, Commissioning and Maintenance of transmission electrical plant
  • Knowledge of Electricity Power System design, operating philosophy and UK safety management practices
  • Degree/HND/HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline supported by experience working on (preferably Transmission) Electrical Power Systems with Technical and/or Operational responsibilities.
  • Factory Audit / Factory Acceptance Testing experience
  • Availability to travel to other locations, including abroad, engaging with key stakeholders and suppliers
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication & negotiation skills - Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical & non-technical audiences, verbally and in writing.
  • Equipment failure investigation experience and competence at risk assessment
