Tunnel Foreman (International) Slurry TBM

Description

The position is based in the Middle East and involves direct oversight of a team of operatives to deliver safe and efficient slurry Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) tunnelling works. The role requires managing daily operations, maintaining quality standards, adhering to project schedules, and implementing safety procedures within the tunnel environment.

• Directly oversee a team of operatives to ensure safe and efficient slurry TBM tunnelling.
• Lead, motivate, assign tasks, and monitor performance while providing on‑site guidance.
• Conduct regular safety inspections, enforce protocols, and ensure workers are trained and equipped.
• Develop daily work plans, coordinate with other teams, and manage equipment usage to meet schedules.
• Monitor the quality of excavation, lining installation, and ground support to meet project specifications.
• Apply technical knowledge of slurry TBM operations, shotcrete, and segmental lining for informed site decisions.
• Maintain accurate records, daily and incident reports, and document all tunnel activities.
• Communicate effectively with engineers, site managers, trades, and team members to coordinate activities.
• Respond promptly to tunnel emergencies, manage evacuations, and coordinate with emergency response teams.

Requirements

Candidates must have at least three years of underground experience on slurry TBM projects, including previous responsibility as the Person in Charge. A solid understanding of tunnelling safety regulations, technical knowledge of equipment and methods, and relevant safety certifications are essential, alongside strong leadership and communication abilities.

• Possess extensive tunnelling construction experience, preferably in a supervisory role.
• Understand tunnelling safety regulations and procedures thoroughly.
• Demonstrate strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Hold technical knowledge of tunnelling equipment and methods and can read project drawings and specifications.
• Hold relevant certifications in safety and tunnelling practices.
• Minimum 3+ years experience working in an underground environment on slurry TBM projects and previous PIC (Person in Charge) experience.
