The Welding Supervisor leads and directs a team of production personnel to exceed safety, quality, customer experience, and cost control objectives. This role actively supports manufacturing staff, providing feedback to ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and best practices.
Key responsibilities include ensuring safety compliance, reviewing blueprints, monitoring welding procedures (WPS), and coordinating inspections with CWI/QA. The supervisor also manages work orders in the MRP system to reflect accurate inventory of sub‑assemblies and finished goods.
The supervisor drives production and shipping goals, monitors inventory levels, and reports discrepancies. They direct, assist, and evaluate team members on both daily tasks and long‑term objectives while maintaining efficiencies for optimal cost and on‑time delivery.
Leadership duties involve the professional development of team members, providing coaching, constructive feedback, and performance reviews. The supervisor fosters a supportive, inclusive environment that encourages collaboration and respects diverse perspectives.
Qualifications include a college degree (preferred but not required), solid understanding of MRP systems (QAD, SAP, etc.), and 1‑2 years of leadership experience (3 years preferred). Candidates should have 3‑5 years of hands‑on welding/fabrication experience, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and strong communication, problem‑solving, organizational, and decision‑making skills.
The role is primarily performed in a factory environment with exposure to temperature changes, noise, vibration, chemicals, and moving machinery, while also requiring occasional office work using computers and telephone equipment.
