Interns work alongside other interns, junior staff, and senior managers on projects that address equitable, sustainable economic development, real‑estate development and repositioning, climate advisory services, and economic diversification. Responsibilities include entry‑level work on a variety of assignments, following senior staff instructions, meeting schedules, and producing quality deliverables while collecting data, conducting research, and synthesizing information for community‑based regional and national clients.

Requirements

We are seeking a Consulting Services Intern based in Chicago, IL or New York City, NY, with a start date in May 2026. The AECOM Advisory Consulting Internship offers hands‑on learning in a fast‑paced consulting and advisory practice and is open to current students and recent graduates interested in economic analysis, urban planning, climate and sustainability, public policy, or data science.

• Pursue or have completed a bachelor’s degree in economics, urban planning, public policy, finance, business, real estate, environmental science, climate & sustainability, or a related field (minimum three years of study).
• Preferred: enrolled in a master’s program in one of the above disciplines.
• Experience with quantitative and qualitative analysis related to economic and community development, equity, housing, public health, finance, or resilience.
• Ability to build cash‑flow models in Excel for real‑estate development projects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and familiarity with GIS, statistical software (Stata, R, Python), data visualization, and economic impact modeling tools (RIMS II, IMPLAN, REMI).

The position is on‑site in Chicago, IL (130 East Randolph) and is classified under the Business Group DCS, Business Line Buildings & Places. Compensation is hourly, ranging from $23.00 to $26.00 based on location and individual qualifications.
