Tasks

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance, the Senior Accountant will engage on complex transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, financial investments and other growth initiatives for our global business, focusing on the technical accounting aspects as part of a collaborative team of accounting professionals. The candidate will be closely involved in the preparation, analysis and presentation of the TSX and NYSE listed financial statements for the Brookfield Renewable Energy Group (BEP and BEPC). -Provide support to the Senior Manager for ad-hoc requests. -Assist in researching and drafting position papers on transactions initiated from our corporate platform; -Maintain internal controls related to the above functions to ensure a SOX compliant close process; -Connect with professionals from our global regional platforms to provide support and oversight for growth initiatives; -Coordinate quarter and year-end audit support and work with the independent auditors to address queries; -Participate in the valuations for M&A and other investments; -Perform analysis under IFRS 9, IFRS 15 and IFRS 16 for various agreements;

What You Bring

-Understanding of valuation techniques, specifically discounted cash flow. -Quality and detail-oriented and able to meet tight deadlines; -Strong communication skills (oral and written), bilingualism is considered as an asset; -Good knowledge of Excel, knowledge of IFS and Cognos Controller an asset. -Recognized professional accounting designation (CA/CPA); -Demonstrated knowledge of internal controls (specific SOX experience is considered as an asset); -Demonstrated experience in the analysis of consolidated financial results and in the preparation of supporting documents for complex financial statements; -1-2 years or more of relevant work experience; -Solid analytical abilities, combined with being detail-oriented; -Ability to work independently, solve problems and use sound judgment; -Experience in working in a growing organization with changing needs and multiple business transactions that have an impact on the consolidation process of the business; -Ability to work in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced environment, to adapt quickly and to manage changing priorities; -Demonstrated knowledge of IFRS (US GAAP an asset but not required); -Capable of managing difficult and demanding situations;
