The role involves preparing for patrols, safely traversing energy corridors on foot, identifying vegetation for pruning or removal, conducting tree risk assessments, and marking clearance actions in accordance with ISA and ANSI standards.
The forester will engage with landowners and stakeholders using digital tools, obtain work permissions, provide professional customer service, and coordinate non‑routine work with contractors while reporting safety concerns.
Additional duties include auditing contractor compliance, investigating tree‑related outages, supporting storm and emergency response, and performing other tasks as assigned.
- Ongoing training and support for industry certifications.
- Prepare patrol records, maps, and paperwork; review sites for endangered species and sensitive habitats.
- Patrol energy corridors on foot, identify and classify vegetation for pruning, removal, or protection per client standards.
- Conduct tree risk assessments, growth‑rate analysis, and mark clearance actions using ISA pruning techniques and ANSI standards.
- Engage landowners and agencies via digital tools, obtain work permissions, and provide professional customer service.
- Audit contractor work for compliance and investigate tree‑related outages.
- Coordinate non‑routine work, report safety incidents, and follow AMS safety protocols and wildfire prevention plans.
- Participate in storm and emergency response as needed.

Candidates need 2‑3 years of forestry experience (or 3‑4 years of utility vegetation management) plus a Certified ISA Arborist credential, a relevant degree or equivalent experience, a valid driver’s licence, GIS and computer proficiency, and the ability to work alone in varied weather and terrain.
The position requires strong interpersonal, problem‑solving, and multitasking skills, as well as the physical capacity to walk up to 10 miles daily, lift up to 60 lb, and operate field equipment safely.
- 2‑3 years forestry experience (or 3‑4 years utility vegetation management) and a Certified ISA Arborist credential.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in forestry, natural resources, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
- Proficiency with GIS software, Microsoft Suite, and mobile devices.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, problem‑solving, and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work independently outdoors in various weather and terrain conditions.
- Bilingual Spanish proficiency is a plus.
- Experience with utility line clearance or tree trimming.
