The technician prepares site‑visit criteria, safety forms, route maps, and the information to be collected for each facility. They perform independent or team‑based field inspections, gathering geographic locations, field notes, and digital images, while identifying construction risks related to environmental, situational, or customer issues. The role requires operating tablets, GPS devices, cameras, range finders, and personal protective equipment, and representing Sargent & Lundy professionally.
Daily communication with engineering and project‑management teams is essential, and the technician must work safely without direct supervision. The position offers a generous relocation package depending on location.
Required qualifications include a high‑school diploma, at least two years of utility distribution experience, and proficiency with computers, GPS maps, tablets, and GIS software such as ArcGIS. Candidates must be familiar with electric distribution equipment, able to follow process specifications, travel to variable terrain and weather conditions, possess reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license, and demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills. Valued but not required skills include technical utility experience and an associate’s degree in computer‑aided design.
