Commercial Construction Corporate Controller (Remote)

Description

• Oversee all tax compliance including income, franchise, sales/use, and property taxes.
• Develop ad-hoc financial analyses and reporting to support decision-making across the organization.
• Maintain accounting records in accordance with U.S. GAAP; identify, interpret, and implement new accounting standards.
• Oversee daily cash management and provide key input into short- and long-term cash forecasting.
• Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for executive management, shareholders, PE sponsor, and Board of Directors.
• Develop and enforce accounting policies and procedures to drive consistency across all business units.
• Manage all external audit activities and support subsidiary reviews required for state licensing.
• Operational Excellence: Ensures accuracy, compliance, and control in all financial processes.
• Direct and oversee all aspects of the monthly and quarterly financial close and consolidation process.
• Identify and implement reporting and process improvements that enhance efficiency and business insight.
• Provide training, coaching, and technical guidance as needed.
• Drive the implementation of financial reporting tools that improve visibility and accelerate financial communication.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of accounting and finance professionals.
• Direct credit and collections activities, ensuring timely billing in accordance with contract requirements and maintaining targeted DSO performance.
• Ensure timely and accurate debt covenant and compliance reporting.
• Ensure accurate application of percentage-of-completion accounting for job WIPs and timely preparation of account reconciliations and balance sheet analyses.
• Team Development: Builds capabilities within the finance function through coaching and mentoring.
• Ensure proper controls over cash transactions and support ongoing treasury functions.
• Create and implement methodologies to allocate costs to business units.

Requirements

• Construction accounting experience, including percentage-of-completion, strongly preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive financial management experience.
• Strategic Financial Leadership: Demonstrates strong judgment and the ability to manage complex financial operations.
• Results-Oriented: Delivers timely, accurate, and actionable financial insights.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Active CPA or In progress, highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and the ability to apply complex accounting principles.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
• Prior experience leading and developing accounting or finance teams.
• Experience with ERP systems, data cubes, extraction tools, and advanced financial reporting platforms.
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly to Atlanta, GA and Mobile, AL.
• Knowledge of Viewpoint Vista or similar construction-based systems preferred.
