- Participates in project site visits with other project team members, as needed
- Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents
- Assists in the analysis, preparation or modification of technical reports, drawings, plans, specifications and permits for projects
- Collaborates with project team members, client representatives, review agencies to help resolve a variety of complex problems
- Assists in the design of a variety of roadway project types including urban streets, rural highways, bridge replacements, sidewalks and trails, complex interchanges, roundabouts and intersection improvements

- Able to learn Department of Transportation systems, policies, and procedures
- Experience using MicroStation V8i and Inroads is a plus. OpenRoads experience is a plus
- Strong interpersonal/communication skills
- Able to learn standard operations, policies and procedures of a firm, preferably within the A/E industry
- Ability to work and learn in a fast-paced collaborative team atmosphere with an established group of surveyors, engineers, scientists, and administrative staff
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel
- 2 to 4 years of roadway design experience. Prior internship experience is a plus
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret job-related manuals and documents
- EIT Certification in respective state, or an ability to obtain EIT in respective state within 6 months of start date, is required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited program
