School Custodial Cleaner

Description

Custodial responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways, while following safety, security, compliance, and quality standards.

• Clean and maintain assigned areas, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways.
• Sweep, mop, and remove debris or spills from floors.
• Empty trash receptacles and manage recycling in all designated areas.
• Use chemical cleaners and power equipment following safety procedures.
• Report minor or major repairs or building system issues to the lead cleaner or manager.
• Communicate effectively with clients, co‑workers, supervisors, and managers.
• Dust and polish desks, chairs, furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, walls, ceilings, and hard surfaces such as woodwork and stainless steel.
• Clean tabletops and equipment in food service areas.
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, and equipment manually or with hand trucks.
• Clean interior glass, windows, partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaners and tools.
• Perform seasonal tasks like sweeping walkways, raking leaves, cutting grass, and snow removal.
• Maintain restroom cleanliness, including polishing as needed.
• Adhere to all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards set by the company, clients, and regulators.

Requirements

The School Custodian performs general cleaning duties across designated areas of K-12 schools, colleges, or university campuses. This entry‑level position is suitable for individuals entering or returning to the workforce with limited experience and education. Basic eligibility requires candidates to be at least 18 years old, with on‑the‑job training provided. Preferred applicants have prior customer service experience and at least one year of similar custodial work.
