Purpose: The role involves carrying out planned preventive maintenance (PPM), reactive and breakdown work on all electrical systems on site. Engineers must demonstrate knowledge of air conditioning, UPS, three‑phase power, generators, LV/HV systems, and be able to fault‑find using graphical information and current alarm data. They will operate and manage engineering assets to support the business without unplanned disruptions, manage the reactive works process, and develop tools to report on asset and building performance with improvement recommendations.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities: Ensure routine PPM is carried out on all electrical plant according to site schedules and asset lists. Complete reactive tasks throughout the building, proactively identify improvement areas, and address concessionary stores and fabric‑related items. Remedy plant faults and defects swiftly to keep plant serviceable. Maintain suitable spares and provide parts inventory and estimated timescales for remedial work. Keep the Computer Based Maintenance system (e.g., Concept, Smart Hub) up to date, closing PPM and reactive tickets with accurate data. Complete all relevant paperwork for reactive and breakdown works and pass it to the contract administrator promptly. Prepare and use method statements and risk assessments for all tasks to ensure safe working practices. Keep all plant rooms under Smart’s responsibility locked, clean, and tidy.
Education and Training: Candidates must be formally trained in City & Guilds Electrical Installations or equivalent NVQ and building services maintenance, hold the 18th Edition BS7671 City & Guilds qualification, have experience working in a data centre environment, and possess LV/HV experience.
