In this role you will deliver Clean Energy Link projects, connecting new renewable generation to the grid and advancing the state’s transition to cleaner energy. You will work across Western Power’s network planning, asset management and customer‑led proposals, shaping technical and commercial solutions for complex, high‑value initiatives.
You will lead the planning and scoping phases end‑to‑end, using engineering expertise to influence, challenge and refine solutions, ensuring outcomes meet performance, regulatory and financial requirements while staying on time and on budget.
- Coordinate and lead Joint Planning Teams, providing technical input for options analysis and scope development.
- Develop and collate robust documentation to support investment decisions.
- Analyse technical solutions and cost feasible options for planning problems.
- Maintain effective relationships to frame decisions and contracts for complex network and major customer connections and line relocations.
- Ensure commercial solutions consider risk implications and engineering requirements.
- Produce and manage accurate capital budget requirements for complex projects.
- Escalate issues appropriately within the area.
- Create concise, rigorous business cases for customer applications or network solutions.
- Apply a balanced approach to asset‑management issues, recognizing that solutions are rarely one‑size‑fits‑all.
- Keep project, financial and customer‑relationship systems up‑to‑date.
- Apply regulatory, technical rules, policies and guidelines to customer‑driven and network investments.
- Provide high‑quality data and forecasts for investment proposals.
- Lead and support innovation and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
- Mentor graduate engineers.

The ideal candidate holds an engineering degree and possesses broad knowledge and project experience in transmission or distribution networks, economic and financial evaluation, and project‑management tools such as P6. Strong written, verbal and presentation skills, plus the ability to apply a balanced, holistic approach to complex issues, are essential.
- Demonstrate collaborative decision‑making across internal and external stakeholders.
- Engineering degree qualification.
- Experience in planning, design, operation, maintenance or project delivery of electricity transmission/distribution networks.
- Proficiency with project‑management software (e.g., P6).
- Strong written, verbal and presentation/communication skills.
- Ability to apply a balanced, holistic approach to complex issues.
