  • Build and set formwork for bridge decks, piers, abutments, columns, caps, and other components
  • Applies shock-absorbing, sound-deadening, and decorative paneling to ceilings and walls.
  • Covers subfloor with building paper to keep out moisture and lays hardwood, parquet, and wood-strip-block floors by nailing floors to subfloor or cementing them to mastic or asphalt base.
  • Verifies trueness of structure with plumb bob and carpenter’s level. Erects framework for structures and lays subflooring. Builds stairs and lays out and installs partitions and cabinet work.
  • Reach for, handle, and manipulate objects and materials
  • Strip and clean forms after concrete placement
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and project specifications
  • Collaborate with crane operators, laborers, and other crew members
  • Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails, dowel pins, or glue.
  • Secure forms and reinforcing steel to meet engineering requirements
  • Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials, using pencil, chalk, and marking gage.
  • Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
  • Work at elevated heights and over water in compliance with safety regulations
  • Fits and installs prefabricated window frames, doors, doorframes, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware, such as locks, letterdrops, and kick plates.
  • Climb and maintain balance on scaffolds and ladders
  • Prepares layout, using rule, framing square, and calipers.
  • Shapes materials to prescribed measurements, using saws, chisels, and planes.
  • Install and align falsework and shoring systems
  • Cut, fit, and assemble lumber and plywood for concrete forms
  • Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
  • Follow OSHA and company safety procedures at all times
  • Lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Selects specified type of lumber or other materials.
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated.
  • Operate carpentry hand and power tools safely and efficiently
