The role’s primary responsibilities include creating and managing controls databases, graphics, and programming for systems such as Distech, Alerton, and Tridium, and executing accurate start‑up and commissioning activities. The incumbent will support installation teams, troubleshoot issues, produce documentation, and deliver ongoing service support to building engineers. Additional duties involve assisting with estimation, design, training, project turnover, sales support, and occasional travel to job sites.
- Create and manage controls database, graphics, and programming for Distech, Alerton, and Tridium systems.
- Perform accurate controls start‑up, commissioning, and point‑to‑point checkout; verify alarms and annunciations.
- Support installation personnel and other contractors on project sites.
- Debug installation issues during static and dynamic start‑up and commissioning.
- Assist Climatec and contractors with building operating issues beyond controls.
- Contribute to estimation, design, installation, start‑up, commissioning, and training for building systems.
- Generate start‑up documentation such as daily logs, checkout logs, and commissioning records.
- Provide service support for existing systems and ongoing assistance to building engineers.
- Complete timesheets, service work orders, and required paperwork promptly.
- Help prepare as‑built drawings and operation & maintenance manuals.
- Participate in project turnover from Operations to Service team.
- Support sales team during estimating phase, including product or system demonstrations.
- Travel to job sites as needed for start‑up, commissioning, and onsite assistance.
- Lift and carry ladders, drawings, computers, and materials; lift up to 50 lb+.
- Stand, walk, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods on construction sites.
- Maintain a satisfactory driving record for company vehicle use.

The position follows three proficiency levels. Level I requires supervision, a basic understanding of at least one system, and a low‑level certification. Level II works independently, mentors Level I staff, handles multiple deliverables, and holds a mid‑level certification. The Senior level brings deep technical expertise, high‑level certification, industry activity, and provides mentorship and supervision as needed.
Candidates should have a technical background in HVAC or electronics, with at least two years of experience on Distech, Alerton, or Tridium platforms. Advanced troubleshooting, code compliance, and service support skills are essential. Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree or ten-plus years of related experience, five years of controls experience, and expertise in building automation programming and database management.
The position requires physical capabilities such as lifting up to 50 lb, standing, walking, and climbing ladders for extended periods, and maintaining a satisfactory driving record. Work may be performed outdoors, in mechanical rooms, and under varied weather conditions, with exposure to live voltage, moving machinery, and occasional chemicals. Clear color vision and visual acuity are also required.
- Minimum: 2‑year technical degree in HVAC or electronics (preferred) and 2+ years experience with Distech, Alerton, or Tridium controls.
- Advanced ability to provide service support, ensure code compliance, and maintain efficient operation.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical/electronic circuitry and diagram interpretation.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in HVAC or electronics or 10+ years equivalent experience.

- Kneel, stoop, and crawl; work outdoors, in mechanical rooms, and under varied weather conditions.
- Exposure to live voltage, moving mechanical parts, heavy machinery, wet environments, elevated locations, airborne particles, fumes, electrical hazards, vibrations, and occasional chemicals.
- Possess accurate color vision and clear visual acuity.
