Multi‑disciplinary coastal UK firm advising on surveying, engineering, architecture, cost consultancy and insurance claims.
Chartered Building Surveyor required for insurance work on residential and commercial buildings in Exeter and surrounding areas. Inspect, advise, and manage repair projects.
To provide supervision and support to APC candidates to promote knowledge and understanding.
Inspect and provide advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of all types of buildings and sites.
At all times to comply with the requirements of the Company’s administrative, personnel procedures and Health & Safety regulations
To design and oversee works using recognised building contracts and to current technical standards.
Inspections to involve acquisition surveys, condition reports, measured surveys and defect investigations
To prepare reports, schedule of works and works specifications
To play an active part in promoting the company’s services to secure projects and promote the Gateley Smithers Purslow brand.

Experience and understanding of CDM Regs 2015, Party Wall and Building Regulation legislation
Experience and extensive working knowledge of consulting engineering, surveying, architectural & planning practices and procedures supported by an awareness of the latest statutory requirements and technical publications.
Must be MRICS Accredited
Experience in working to deadlines and within budgets on large scale projects
Experience in Contract Administration
Experience in negotiation, supervisory and leadership roles
Insurance repair project experience preferred
Flexible and Variable Attitude to work type
Undertake large value projects independently with sound knowledge on all aspects of professional consultancy services.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience in Defect Diagnosis and report writing
To understand and apply other relevant legislation such as health and safety, party wall, building regulations and planning.
Sound mathematical, scientific and IT skills and the ability to think methodically to problem solve.
