Director, Strategic Utility Engagement

Description

The Director, Strategic Utility Engagement will act as a key external‑facing strategist to support the origination and execution of long‑term framework agreements with utilities and corporate off‑takers. The role leverages deep knowledge of utility procurement, regulatory processes, and corporate buyer dynamics to anticipate challenges, influence decision‑making, and drive partnerships beyond traditional PPAs.

• Facilitate origination and execution of framework agreements with utilities and corporate energy buyers.
• Advise internally and recommend alternative approaches when regulatory, procurement, or planning hurdles arise.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align strategies with counterpart procurement, IRP, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor regulatory, policy, and market developments to anticipate approval challenges and adjust strategies proactively.
• Build and maintain relationships with utilities, regulators, and key stakeholders to position the company as a trusted partner.

Requirements

• 7–10+ years of U.S. energy sector experience, including utility procurement, regulatory affairs, or large‑scale origination.
• Direct experience with utility RFPs, contract negotiations, and regulatory filings (e.g., PUCs) preferred.
• Deep understanding of IOU and corporate buyer processes, including procurement, IRP alignment, and regulatory approvals.
• Strong problem‑solving ability to translate counterpart challenges into actionable solutions.
• Proven effectiveness working across internal functions.
• Excellent executive‑level communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Prior experience inside an IOU procurement, resource planning, or regulatory team.
• Background in regulatory affairs, energy policy, or external affairs related to renewable development.
• Robust professional network with IOUs, regulators, and policy stakeholders.

Benefits
