The CAD/Revit Drafter – Level I supports a federal BIM program by producing accurate 2D and 3D drawings, integrating design changes, and preparing construction documentation using AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit. This role contributes directly to the creation and maintenance of Master Record Drawings (MRDs) and participates in modeling projects, drawing conversions, and quality assurance processes. NV5 provides engineering and consulting services across multiple verticals to public and private sector clients.
The drafter will support the BIM workflow by drafting, modeling, and ensuring compliance with drawing standards and the BIM Execution Plan. Responsibilities include collaborating with engineers, project managers, and government stakeholders to produce usable deliverables and performing quality control checks on all outputs.
The position is onsite at a government agency in the National Capital Region, requiring U.S. citizenship and the ability to meet federal background investigation requirements. Work hours are full‑time, Monday through Friday, 07:30 – 16:30, excluding federal holidays. Candidates must have at least two years of professional CAD/Revit drafting experience in architectural, engineering, or construction settings. Required skills include proficiency in AutoCAD 2D drafting, Revit 3D modeling, and familiarity with BIM practices and federal drafting standards. An associate degree or technical diploma in drafting, engineering technology, or a related field is preferred, and strong attention to detail is essential.
The compensation package includes an hourly rate of $24.04 – $31.25, with potential adjustments based on knowledge and experience, as well as possible restricted stock units.
