The role involves implementing, monitoring and optimising condition‑based maintenance strategies through route‑based monitoring and fixed sensors, ensuring assets operate efficiently and sustainably.
Key responsibilities include executing condition‑based monitoring such as thermography, vibration analysis, ultrasound emission and oil analysis, reporting findings via the asset management platform, analysing data to produce detailed corrective maintenance plans, performing root‑cause analysis on complex failures, and continuously improving monitoring processes.
The position of CBM Engineer (Route‑Based) closes on 28 November 2025. It is a permanent, full‑time role working 37 hours per week with a salary up to £48,000 depending on experience. The job requires travelling to various Sussex sites or working from an office, a valid driving licence, and the provision of a company van and tools.

A logical, analytical mindset with strong planning abilities and a flexible, collaborative working style is essential.
Technical expertise should cover vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasonic testing and oil analysis, as well as familiarity with reliability techniques such as RCM and FMECA and predictive maintenance strategies. Understanding of predictive analytics, machine learning and failure prediction models is valuable, and wastewater knowledge is desired.
Candidates must be able to identify risks, develop resolution plans and understand statutory requirements and compliance standards.
Preferred qualifications include industry‑accredited ISO18436 training in vibration analysis, infrared imaging, ultrasonic testing and oil analysis, while candidates requiring training will also be considered. A minimum ONC or OND in engineering or equivalent relevant industry experience is desirable.
