The outsourced controller role supports mission‑driven nonprofit organizations, helping them thrive through financial excellence. This position is fully remote and can be performed from anywhere in the United States.
- Review financial reporting packages and work papers for quality, completeness, and timeliness.
- Prepare and analyze benchmarking data and KPIs to provide client insights.
- Present reporting packages and findings to clients.
- Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and cash‑flow models per engagement terms.
- Provide technical accounting support on complex issues.
- Identify operational inefficiencies through client discovery and recommend improvements.
- Lead and coach staff and senior accountants on accounting and reporting matters.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
- 4–6 years of experience in public or private accounting.
- 3+ years managing associates and/or teams.
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) preferred.
- Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis.
- Strong planning, prioritization, and organizational skills.
- Strong project management and relationship‑building skills with a client‑first mindset.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Intaact, QuickBooks Online, Netsuite, Bill.com, Microsoft Office) and ability to adopt new technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to influence others, promote constructive change, and develop team members.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
Benefits
The estimated base salary ranges from $97,000 to $145,000, with potential annual discretionary bonuses based on individual and firm performance. Compensation reflects factors such as location, experience, education, licensure, and firm needs.
