

Providing integrated environmental, engineering, and construction services for complex projects.
The position combines field and office work on hazardous‑waste investigations and remediation projects. Duties include leading projects, sampling soil, water, waste and air, performing on‑site chemical and physical screening, shipping samples for analysis, evaluating results, and preparing investigation and removal‑action reports. The specialist also serves as an on‑call emergency responder for about one week per month, providing 24/7 response to chemical and oil spills, and must be able to travel as required.
As an integral member of the project team, the specialist will interface with internal and external clients, deliver project documentation, and communicate clearly with team members to ensure project success.
Key responsibilities include rotating as a 24‑hour on‑call responder, leading or assisting field work that may require up to two weeks of remote travel, collecting and managing environmental samples, calibrating and maintaining multi‑media monitoring equipment, documenting field activities, preparing daily EPA reports, determining optimal data‑gathering methods, consulting with specialists, and delivering draft and final reports within budget and schedule.
Candidates must hold a B.S. or M.S. in Environmental Science or a related engineering, physical, or life science discipline and have at least ten years of direct experience in environmental response operations such as sampling, assessments, lab coordination, and document preparation. Preferred qualifications include OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification, experience planning and leading site investigations, preparing field work and quality‑assurance plans, overseeing subcontractors, and proficiency with PPE, monitoring instrumentation, and standard office applications.
