As a Bridge Engineer, you will play an important part in every stage of a project from inception to completion.

- Assisting with the supervision, mentoring and development of team members from Graduate Engineers and Technicians through to Assistant Engineers.
- Assisting with contract preparation together with project planning and programming.
- Preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy the criteria of quality, cost and programme
- Contributing to the preparation of bids and general working winning function
- Implementing the project requirements to fully meet client specification with relevant standards.
- Overseeing the actions of more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks and taking responsibility for their actions
- To work in a team, producing technically sound engineering solutions
- Liaising with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, and responding to queries
- Drive effective health and safety practices within the team
- Carrying out site visits and surveys, inspections and supervise sub-contractors.
- Managing a small, locally based single discipline technical team and taking responsibility for delivery of their workload
- Preparing and checking design approach, calculations drawing and documents.
- Preparing and checking feasibility studies, inspection, assessment, and technical reports ensuring compliance with Amey procedures.

- Experience in FE analysis using Lusas, Atena or Midas software
- Experience with highway structures and major bridges
- Developed experience and expertise within Structural engineering field, probably gained in an Assistant Engineer role or equivalent
- Bachelors / Masters degree in Civil / Structural Engineering
- Compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation, particularly CDM regulations.
- Excellent understanding of structural behaviour and analysis
- Chartered status (or working towards it) with ICE, IStructE or CIHT other appropriate professional body
- Enjoys working in a team environment; sharing ideas and collaborating with colleagues.
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards such as DMRB and / or Eurocodes
- Being confident to work under minimum supervision and check the work of others.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in an appropriate subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning
- Demonstrable experience in the assessment, design and / or management of bridges
