Senior Construction Manager

Description

The Senior Construction Manager is a senior‑level role that leads large construction projects and program subsets within Ditesco’s construction management work group. The position is responsible for resource allocation, schedule and budget control, risk management, quality assurance, contract administration, and overall project success across all phases from financing to operations. The manager also supports business development through proposal work, client meetings, and company presentations.

• Manage risk across large project industry sectors delivering world‑class projects to Ditesco clients.
• Implement, manage, and oversee quality assurance and quality control programs on assigned projects and translate them company‑wide as applicable.
• Develop a high‑performing team through supervision, training, coaching, and mentoring.
• Recruit, attract, retain, and motivate staff, providing regular and timely feedback.
• Complete employee performance appraisals via direct or 360° reviews.
• Participate in the overall safety program, monitoring and enforcing best practices.
• Maintain safety training for all operations, including OSHA, open trench, and confined space.
• Provide senior leadership and support to ensure projects are completed according to Ditesco’s scope with a value‑added approach.
• Serve as owner’s representative, delivering program and project management services across various project types and sectors.
• Administer contracts proactively for all assigned projects, ensuring proper controls.
• Ensure work products meet company quality standards.
• Attend and manage regular project progress meetings and assist staff throughout delivery.
• Ensure company policies and procedures are updated and followed by each team member.
• Track and control construction risk, schedules, and costs to achieve on‑time, on‑budget completion.
• Contribute to strategic planning with senior leadership and participate in strategy meetings and retreats.
• Report project status regularly to senior leadership, providing monthly profitability, risk, and status reports.
• Identify new business opportunities, meet business development goals, and maintain existing client relationships and contracts.
• Assist or manage the creation of proposals, marketing materials, and responses to RFPs.
• Set goals, monitor work, and evaluate results to align with organizational objectives and mission.
• Ensure timely invoicing, accurate cost reporting, and maintain project budgets with staff assistance.
• Analyze initiatives to maximize direct labor, maintain profit, and control costs.
• Participate in and nurture broad networks of external alliances to exchange knowledge and support industry changes.
• Report and share information regularly with the Program Manager.
• Participate in industry associations and work groups representing the company.

Requirements

• Apply experience with industry delivery models such as CM/GC, CMaR, Design/Build, DBB, and P3.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited institution.
• Registered Professional Engineer in Colorado or Certified Construction Manager, or equivalent education and experience.
• Minimum 12 years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering and construction, including project/construction management and contract administration.
• Experience in claims avoidance, risk management, and schedule control.
• Experience with municipal, state, and federal agency projects.
• Demonstrated business development and relationship‑building experience.
• Ability to pass a drug screen, background check, and maintain a satisfactory driving record per company policy.
• Extensive knowledge of engineering and construction principles for heavy civil, commercial, public buildings, water, wastewater, pipeline, telecommunications, and road/bridge projects.
• Ability to foster teamwork, lead, develop professional relationships, mentor, and train.
• Skill in compiling engineering data, evaluating statistics, and generating reports.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, agencies, clients, and the public.
• Proficiency in preparing budgets, proposals, and managing contracts and project costs.
