Project Lead / Team Lead - Energy Utilities

Description

• Support project managers in engineering design, deliverable execution, and client interaction.
• Produce engineering plans and exhibits using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet scope, schedule, budget, and deliverable metrics.
• Provide technical expertise in site/civil design, hydrology, erosion control, slope stability, and stormwater management; mentor junior staff.
• Assist permitting processes with county and local municipalities.
• Identify challenges with project management and develop effective solutions.
• Set employee goals, give feedback, and foster performance and career development.
• Facilitate regular communication to support overall team health.
• Review timesheets for accuracy with Project Leads.
• Coordinate resource planning and balance workloads across the team.
• Manage recruitment: post job requisitions, review resumes, coordinate interviews, and hire technical staff.
• Collaborative, initiative‑taking attitude; mentors and supports professional development.

Requirements

Woolpert is hiring a Team/Project Lead for its Energy Utilities practice. Reporting to the Utilities Engineering Services Leader, the role leads the Energy Design team, balances engineering staff workload, and serves as project lead. The ideal candidate combines managerial and technical problem‑solving skills with strong communication and collaboration abilities.

• Minimum 5+ years (preferred 10+) site/civil design experience.
• Located in Ohio with ability to regularly visit the Columbus office.
• Strong knowledge of codes, regulations, engineering plan creation, stormwater design, site grading, and permitting.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D; experience with HydroCAD, Autodesk Vehicle Tracking, Bluebeam, ArcGIS, and Microsoft Suite a plus.
• Ability to organize and manage project tasks; experience in delegating work, proposal writing, or budgeting a plus.
• Excellent client service, written and verbal communication.
• Strong organizational, time‑management, detail‑oriented, and analytical skills.
