The company traces its origins back to 1919 when it started operations with coal unloading at New York docks.
500-ton crane
Heavy-Lift Capability
The company operates a 500-ton revolving crane capable of handling massive objects, such as lifting the Space Shuttle Enterprise.
  • Founded by Francis and Richard B. Weeks, the company began unloading coal at New York docks with two floating cranes and rapidly grew its maritime expertise.
  • Over decades it expanded services—wreck removal, navigational aids installation, dredging, marine construction—and built one of North America’s largest floating fleets.
  • Now a standalone subsidiary of Kiewit (since January 2023), it leverages deep equipment resources and legacy partnerships dating back to the 1960s.
  • Typical projects span coastal protection, port infrastructure, tunnels (e.g., Spadina Subway, Euclid Tunnel), and heavy-lift salvage of aircraft and vessels.
  • With divisions in construction, dredging, tunneling, aggregates and marine services, it delivers turnkey solutions using cranes, dredges, barges, tugs and custom yards.
  • Standout feats include recovering the downed US Airways Flight 1549 hull.
