The PMO Project Controls Supervisor supports the Project Management Office by establishing and maintaining project control policies, systems, processes, and tools. This role ensures effective planning, scheduling, cost management, risk management, and reporting across all projects and programs, providing accurate, timely data for decision‑making and performance improvement. The supervisor also assigns project resources based on load forecasting and jurisdictional needs in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia, requiring strong analytical capabilities to forecast operational risk.
Key responsibilities include planning and scheduling, cost management, reporting and performance monitoring, risk and change management, process and governance support, and stakeholder collaboration. The supervisor leads the development and rollout of PMO initiatives, maintains integrated schedules using Primavera P6, tracks budgets and expenditures, performs variance analysis, supports Earned Value Management, consolidates performance metrics, manages risk registers and change control, and ensures compliance with corporate methodologies while driving continuous improvement.
Required education is a High School Diploma or GED, with a Bachelor’s degree preferred. Candidates must have at least five years of project‑controls experience in the construction industry and two or more years of supervisory or team‑lead experience. Relevant certifications and a working knowledge of Washington Gas operations and company systems such as OpenGrid, Salesforce, SAP, and PeopleSoft are advantageous.
The role demands demonstrated ability to manage cost control, scheduling, and performance tracking for multiple construction portfolios, collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks, and prepare and present progress reports and dashboards to senior leadership. Strong analytical, communication, and relationship‑building skills are essential, as is the capacity to meet competing deadlines, mentor a project‑controls team, and foster best‑practice adherence.
