Construction Project Manager

Description

The Construction Project Manager will lead the successful execution of assigned at‑risk construction projects ranging from $3 M to $20 M, ensuring scope, schedule, and financial targets are met while adhering to corporate Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) and quality‑control policies. The role requires managing project teams, planning, directing, coordinating, and budgeting all construction activities, with a willingness to travel for assignments.

Key responsibilities include developing proposals, establishing baseline cost and schedule metrics, forecasting financial performance, and delivering projects at or above the as‑bid gross profit. The manager will enforce zero‑tolerance safety standards, ensure quality compliance, maintain client communication, and oversee the selection and performance of design professionals, subcontractors, and vendors. Additionally, the manager will create and maintain risk registers, change‑order logs, and secure necessary permits and approvals, while mentoring the team and fostering a collaborative partnership environment.

• Manage construction and design‑build proposals, including estimating, scheduling, subcontracting, and HSE/Quality compliance.
• Establish baseline cost, schedule, and cash‑flow metrics; monitor monthly forecasts and commitments.
• Deliver projects at or above as‑bid gross profit by controlling costs and margins.
• Enforce zero‑tolerance safety standards and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure quality compliance with contract documents and design requirements.
• Maintain regular client communication to keep owners informed and resolve open issues.
• Lead selection, qualification, and contracting of design professionals and trade subcontractors.
• Develop and maintain a project risk register and change‑order log to mitigate potential issues.
• Secure all required permits, environmental approvals, and licenses for construction.
• Mentor and coach project team members, fostering a collaborative partnering environment.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field, or possess an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of five years’ experience as a Project or Construction Manager, along with PMP or CCM certification, strong leadership and communication skills, and a solid understanding of the built environment, CPM scheduling, Earned Value, and project controls, is required.

The position involves regular site navigation, including walking, climbing ladders, and standing on uneven surfaces, and the ability to lift up to 50 lb. • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or equivalent experience.

• Experience managing cash flow, budgets, and vendor procurement.
