The Level II Certifier makes technical decisions based on training and experience to preserve the integrity of the CSA Mark. This role applies theoretical and practical knowledge to independently resolve certification problems and has exposure to laboratory testing, field services and customer visits. The certifier also completes edits and reviews of technical reports.
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, an engineering technologist/technician diploma, or equivalent industry experience. Preference is given to backgrounds in electrical or mechanical engineering, certification work, or hazardous‑area classification. Knowledge of CSA, UL and IEC standards (e.g., CEC, NEC, CSA/UL/IEC 60079 series) and laboratory instrumentation is required, along with strong interpersonal, communication and problem‑solving skills. Experience with high‑power/voltage systems or motors is considered an asset.
The position offers a structured progression through CSA Group’s training system, including online Learning Institute courses and Certifier University instruction under the guidance of a mentor and manager. Auditing of CSA programs and mentoring of junior staff are also part of the role.
The starting bi‑weekly pay rate is $2,823.64 CAD gross for a Certifier I and $3,274.90 CAD gross for a Certifier II, with adjustments based on education, licences and experience. Permanent employees may be eligible for an annual bonus program.
