Staff Accountant

Description

• Collaborate with property teams and vendors to resolve billing issues or coding questions.
• Complete monthly bank reconciliations for multiple entities and accounts.
• Review, code, and process invoices in accordance with internal policies and budget guidelines.
• Ensure timely recording of tenant payments, deposits, and other receipts.
• Post, reconcile, and monitor daily cash flows and accounts receivable through the Rent Manager system.
• Support monthly revenue reporting and assist with tenant ledger reviews as needed.
• Prepare and issue vendor payments, including cutting and distributing outgoing checks.
• Maintain the accounts payable ledger, ensuring accurate posting of expenses and timely payment cycles.
• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports as required.
• Assist with month-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies, payment issues, or missing information.
• Review and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Prepare and maintain quarterly acquisition roll-forwards and debt roll-forward schedules for financial reporting purposes.
• Maintain and reconcile fixed-asset schedules, ensuring proper depreciation and adherence to company policies.

Requirements

The Staff Accountant will play a key role in daily, monthly, and quarterly accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial tracking across cash flows, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and asset management. This position requires strong organizational skills, a high level of accuracy, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong understanding of GAAP.
• 1-3 years of accounting experience, ideally in property management, real estate, or a related industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
