Description

• Perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of energized and de‑energized overhead lines.
• Lead crew members in the foreman's absence.
• String overhead wire and set poles and anchors.
• Install transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.
• Troubleshoot primary and secondary systems and replace cutout fuses.
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
• Work at heights, in confined spaces, and climb wood or steel structures with appropriate tools.
• Properly install and remove PPE, conduct pre‑job and tailgate briefings, and plan safe work from job prints.
• Phase out lines using phasing sticks and obtain a one‑shot on reclosers.
• Perform reconductoring, install/remove mechanical jumpers, and use a load bust tool.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform any related tasks required to complete the job.
• Travel long distances on short notice and work extended periods in various locations.
• Lift over 50 lbs and inspect rubber goods and PPE.

Requirements

The Class A Lineman is a skilled position responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical overhead distribution systems. The role requires working at various locations and may involve travel to another state depending on customer demands.

Physical demands include regular standing, walking, talking, and hearing, as well as frequent use of hands for handling tools and equipment. The employee must be able to lift more than 50 lbs, climb different structures, work at heights or confined spaces, and perform rigorous physical labor in inclement weather.

The work environment exposes the employee to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, loud noise, and extreme outdoor conditions at construction sites. Safety compliance and proper use of personal protective equipment are essential.

• Clear faulted circuits and operate high‑voltage equipment safely.
• Identify primary and secondary voltage, understand induced voltage and grounding procedures.
• Minimum of 5 years recent field experience.
• Read and communicate effectively in English.
• Obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days (CDL preferred).
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and outside normal schedules.
