In this role you will work directly with sustainability and facilities‑management teams to support energy consumption and cost‑reduction initiatives. You will integrate cross‑functionally to provide best‑in‑class advisory input, ensuring building systems such as electrical, mechanical, ventilation, and automation operate at peak performance. You will oversee the development and execution of energy‑reduction projects and programs to achieve energy savings and carbon‑footprint reduction. The position is hybrid, requiring regular on‑site presence at facilities in the New York City area.
The job involves working cross‑functionally across several teams to achieve energy initiatives aligned with the scope of work, engaging in proactive communication to drive innovation and remove roadblocks, and developing, implementing, and managing a building‑energy‑optimization program in collaboration with sustainability and facilities teams. You will engage in strategic decision‑making with key client stakeholders, leveraging data tracking and monitoring to provide actionable recommendations, and use JLL tools as well as alternative solutions as needs arise.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing an energy‑management strategy across eight sites, identifying low‑cost, no‑cost, and capital‑improvement opportunities, and conducting monthly consumption reviews with corrective actions. You will act as the subject‑matter expert to educate and guide stakeholders on energy and sustainability topics, produce monthly and quarterly energy reports outlining progress, ROI, and reduction goals, and collaborate with JLL energy managers and facility managers to share best practices and serve as the primary point of contact for energy‑reduction advice. Additionally, you will develop and enhance systems and processes for delivering best‑practice operational energy performance and utility‑management reporting.
Candidates must hold a university degree in science, engineering, math, or a related field and have at least five years of relevant experience. Strong technical understanding of common HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and building‑automation systems and their impact on sustainability goals is required, as well as applied experience in building energy auditing, commissioning, and/or retrofit or design.
Required skills include advanced knowledge of energy conservation measures—low‑cost, capital improvement, and operational‑maintenance initiatives—strong communication and cross‑collaboration abilities, the capacity to build relationships with clients and internal teams, meticulous attention to detail in written and numeric work, and the ability to analyze corporate portfolios by benchmarking utility data to drive sustainability measures. A genuine passion for working toward a sustainable future is essential.
Behavioral competencies valued at JLL are: Think Big (strategic vision and problem solving), Drive Change (learning agility, curiosity, risk appetite, digital drive), Helps Others (collaboration and relationship‑building), Get It Done (ownership, decisive action, resilience), Business First (client focus and financial acumen), and Inspire (leadership, vision, energizing others).
The position offers an estimated base compensation of $125,000–$135,000 per year, is based on‑site in Brooklyn, NY, and does not provide visa sponsorship; candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
JLL provides a comprehensive benefits package that supports personal well‑being and growth, including a 401(k) plan with matching contributions, medical/dental/vision coverage, paid parental leave at 100% of salary, paid time off and company holidays, and early access to earned wages through Daily Pay. The company fosters a supportive culture that prioritizes mental, physical, and emotional health.
