Geotechnical Intern

Description

• Geotechnical analyses for levees, dams, floodwalls, and other hydraulic structures, including but not limited to seepage, slope stability and settlement analysis, and preparing technical reports.
• Reviews boring logs and laboratory data
• Preparation of geotechnical recommendations that aid in the development of designs, drawings, specifications, and reports
• Assists in planning and coordinating geotechnical field investigations
• Planning field exploration and laboratory testing programs.
• Data evaluation of instrumentation systems at levees, spillways, outlet works, and slopes.
• Work with our multi-disciplinary Water Management team that includes Civil, Structural, and Geotechnical Engineers to deliver innovative designs for our clients
• Design and analyses of other heavy civil and earthen structures will be a part of this role in addition to preparing design/bid packages for permitting/construction, and coordinating and overseeing construction administration, and inspection services.
• Some travel may be required to project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, construction oversight, etc.

Requirements

• Pursuing master's degree in civil engineering.
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in geotechnical analyses for dams, levees, cofferdams, and foundations for various hydraulic structures. This includes, but is not limited to seepage, static and seismic stability analysis, liquefaction analysis, deformation analysis, and foundation and settlement analysis.
• 1 year of prior geotechnical internship or work experience.
• Proficiency in using programs such as gINT, SEEPW, SLOPEW, CWALSHT, PYWall, LPILE, and GROUP is also a plus.
