Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, letters, plans, and other documents.
Develop geotechnical recommendations, plans, and technical specifications for design and construction of private and public projects.
Assist with the planning and execution of field investigations including logging borings and test pits, collecting samples, performing field tests, and observing and assisting with cone penetration and geophysical testing.
Perform static and dynamic numerical modeling using finite-element and finite-difference methods as implemented in PLAXIS, FLAC, and other software applications.
Complete other field, analytical, and project administrative tasks with direction and support from peers and leadership.
Perform site-specific seismic-hazard and ground-response analyses.
Assess static and dynamic slope stability, ground settlement and deformation, and soil liquefaction using various geotechnical software applications.
Learn increasingly more complex, non-routine tasks with review and oversight from senior staff.
Perform geotechnical analysis and design of shallow and deep foundation systems, ground improvement systems, earth-retaining structures, slopes, landslide mitigation solutions, and more.
Develop laboratory testing plans, review laboratory test results, and develop representative soil properties for geotechnical analyses and design.
Observe construction of foundations, ground improvement, shoring, grading operations, and other geotechnical construction.
