The Surveyor is responsible for surveying land for construction projects, including preparation of worksheets, plans, and boundary descriptions. Responsibilities also include providing consultation on land‑development projects, interpreting blueprints and maps, and communicating results to clients, staff, and construction crews. The Surveyor may assist the Supervisor and perform other assigned tasks.
The role requires strong organization, the ability to follow verbal and written instructions, and the capability to work both independently and collaboratively. Proficiency with GPS, Total Station, tape measures, and other surveying tools, as well as the ability to read blueprints, maps, and project documents, is essential. Maintaining equipment, good housekeeping, and safety practices at the end of each day is also required.
Candidates should have prior experience with heavy‑construction staking, topographic and GPS surveying, and must commit to safety by wearing required protective equipment. Reliability in attendance and punctuality is expected, and the ability to work extended hours, including nights and weekends, is required. Applicants must tolerate temperature extremes and changing job‑site conditions such as rain, snow, heat, or cold.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate’s or bachelor's degree in Surveying or Civil Engineering is preferred. A Certified Survey Technician designation is a plus, and proficiency in mathematics, computer skills, and AutoCAD software is expected.
